Backup & disaster recovery
Recovery you've already tested, before you need it.
A backup you've never restored is a hope, not a plan. We design recovery around two numbers the business agrees up front, how much data you can afford to lose (RPO) and how long you can be down (RTO), then build it from Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery and the StorVault suite, and prove it works on a schedule.
What you get
- A business impact assessment that sets RPO and RTO per system, signed off by the business
- Immutable, off-site copies that ransomware can't encrypt or delete
- Microsoft 365 backed up independently of Microsoft, with granular restore of mail, files, Teams and SharePoint
- Servers recoverable in Azure within the agreed RTO, and laptops restorable to a new device the same day
- Restore tests on a schedule, with a report each time: what was restored, how long it took, what was learned
- A written DR runbook your team can execute, and that your auditor and insurer can read
Who it's for
Any business that would struggle after a day without email, a week without its line-of-business system, or a ransomware event; and any business whose insurer or customers ask how it would recover.
The stack
The right tool for each workload
Azure Backup
Policy-driven backup of Azure VMs, on-premises servers, SQL and file shares into a Recovery Services vault, with soft delete, immutability and multi-user authorisation so a compromised admin account can't destroy the copies.
Best for: Servers and workloads, on-premises or in Azure
Azure Site Recovery
Continuous replication of servers to Azure, with recovery plans that bring whole applications up in the right order. Failover drills that don't touch production, so you can test every quarter.
Best for: Systems the business can't be without for more than hours
StorVault: Microsoft 365 backup
Cloud-to-cloud backup of Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams, outside Microsoft's own retention. Point-in-time restore of a mailbox, a folder, a site or a single file.
Best for: Every Microsoft 365 tenant; Microsoft's shared-responsibility model leaves this to you
StorVault: server backup
Image and file-level backup of physical and virtual servers, with local copies for fast restores and encrypted off-site copies for the day the building is the problem.
Best for: Servers that stay on premises
StorVault: laptop & endpoint backup
Continuous, silent backup of laptops and desktops wherever they are, with self-service restore and full-device recovery when a laptop is lost, stolen or encrypted.
Best for: Remote and travelling staff, and anyone who keeps work on the device
How we run it
Assess, build, test, run
- 01
Assess
Business impact assessment, data map, current backup review (most have gaps nobody knows about), RPO and RTO agreed per system.
- 02
Design & build
The right tool per workload from the stack above, retention and immutability set to policy and POPIA, alerting into the service desk.
- 03
Test
Scheduled restore tests and ASR failover drills, reported with timings against the targets. A missed target becomes a change, not a surprise.
- 04
Run
Monitored daily, reviewed quarterly, runbook kept current as the environment changes. Included in your audit evidence pack.
When did you last restore something?
A recovery assessment reviews what you have, finds the gaps and gives you RPO and RTO targets you can take to the board.
